History
The Beginning
The History of lots more food. The more food mod didn't have tons of foods in the start. The first version only had 16 foods, but that was going to change in the upcoming years. The first version of the mod was released to the public on April 11th, 2019 on Planet Minecraft.
This would be the beginnings of what now is the largest mod available for multiple devices. It was first created on Vanilla Minecraft Java Edition using data and resource packs. At the time this new tag was added, called `CustomModelData`, you can apply that tag to a Minecraft item then apply a custom texture to it making it seem like it is a new item. This however was just before I left on a trip to Florida, I live in Wisconsin, This trip was about one month long. Just on the drive home Sir_Craftypants contacted me wondering If he could help with the pack. He offered to create the textures, I said sure.
Then he was off on a texturing rampage, sending textures faster than I could keep up, both releasing updates every week adding 10 or more foods per update, Then BAM!! school season came out of no-where. I was focused on school, and often didn't feel like working on the pack, but Sir_craftypants kept delivering textures. So I showed him how to add the items, as it is pretty simple, well for me at least. Then people wanted survival compatibility.

Making it Survival Compatible
Survival compatibility meant we had to add recipes to craft the food, but there's one issue with that. The crafting table doesn't support the CustomModelData tag. so the regular table was out of the question. So I started working on creating my own crafting table, this is a seperate pack as I also wanted to use it for my other packs that use the tag.
Thus the LPS Rcore API data pack was born. The food pack has lots of recipes. We first had to come up with the recipes so we know if we need any new items for the foods to be crafted, so while I was working on the API data pack sir_craftypants worked on figuring out what the recipes would be by typing them down in the shared Google Document between us. This document is now for public use for people to see what the recipes are.
I then showed Sir_craftpants how to create the recipes for the API. and while he set off on converting the Document to the API I figured out how to create plants, which is also a separate pack, as we didn't want the more food pack becoming too large for it to be uploaded to PMC. The pack is finally survival compatible!! Well that's what we thought.

I Hate Making Recipes
People started reporting bugs that this, and that recipe doesn't work. So I would fix it, but that would break another thing, then another. Then I decided to redo all the recipes. But I wanted to do it correctly. So I created a recipe generator for the API just using Google Sheets. After days and months of recreating the recipes it is finally done, and every recipe has been tested! Let's take a break from Java Edition shall we?
The Beginning of Bedrock
I had just installed Minecraft Bedrock edition for Windows 10. After playing around with things, trying to get used to the MANY differences between the two editions. I wondered. Could I convert more food to work on bedrock edition? After downloading some reference addons and learning from them. I then started to convert more food to bedrock edition. Then right as I was getting ready to post it to the public. An update came along and broke everything. I had no clue how to fix it. I then decided to take a break from it.
Then after a long break I found an up-to-date addon to reference and started updating. starting to understand how things are working. I then decided it was ready for public release I posted it on November 3, 2019 on Curseforge, Curseforge isn't the best site for bedrock content so after a month I found an Awesome bedrock edition biased website called MCPEDL I first posted the morefood there on December 23, 2019 and where it is updated to this day.

Wait, There's more?
But the adventure doesn't stop there. After all the love of both the Java Edition pack and Bedrock Addon I decided to learn a different language, well.. coding language that is. I decided to give Forge, a Java Edition mod loader, a try, I wasn't expecting the forge mod to blow up, It was mostly a way to challenge me and give me something new to learn/do. After watching tutorials on YouTube on how to make a Forge mod I got something that worked. This mod was first released on July 27, 2020 on Curseforge and where it still receives updates.
I noticed that lots of people wanted to use the more food pack on their server, well that's where some of my new learned programming language comes into play. I have started work on converting Lot's More Food to a Java Edition Server Plugin. This project is still in development and there's currently no official release date. Follow my Twitter to get updates when/if it does goes live, and to get notifications whenever there's an update to a more food mod or any of my many many mods.
